A young house with old-fashioned standards
Kalderno is an independent publishing house founded in 2025 by a German team at home in Limassol. We publish children's and toddler books, self-help titles and guided journals, mystery puzzles and Bible study in German and English, and we hold every one of them to the same quiet rule: a book deserves the same care in its hundredth detail as in its first idea.
The house
Kalderno is the publishing imprint of Quicktale Limited. At the moment we publish across five lines: children's books and toddler books, self-help and guided journals, mystery puzzles and Bible study, and we are expanding the programme continuously.
Kalderno began with a small shelf of books we wished existed and the decision to make them ourselves. We are a young house, but we keep old-fashioned standards: readable typography, covers worth framing, stories that are edited until they earn their place on a nightstand.
The company behind Kalderno is Quicktale Limited, registered in Limassol, Cyprus. Our leadership team is German, our address is Mediterranean, and our readers are wherever German and English are read. Being small is not a stage we are trying to grow out of. It is how we can afford to be careful.
The programme
We publish under clearly drawn lines. Kalderno Kids gathers Aria Stern's activity books, game books and picture books for children of kindergarten and school age, and Kalderno Toddler, her early-years programme, makes first books for the very youngest. Kalderno Self-Help carries Olivia K. Renner's warm, practical guides and guided journals.
Two further lines round out the catalogue: Kalderno Mystery, where the Cork & Pin Press studio builds its ALIBI-X case files and puzzle mysteries, and Kalderno Faith, where Susan Mayford writes Bible study books and guided devotionals. A focused list, not a flood. Every title we take on has to justify the shelf space.
Books deserve the same care in their hundredth detail as in their first idea.
How we make books
Every Kalderno title passes through the same unhurried route: concept and manuscript development, several rounds of editing and proofreading, cover design that respects the genre and the reader, and a final production check before anything reaches a printer or a shop.
We would rather delay a book than publish it half-finished. That is not a slogan; it is the reason our seasons are small. German titles are written and edited by native German speakers, English titles by native English speakers, and translations are treated as new editions in their own right, never as an afterthought.
Two things outrank everything else in this house: the reader, and the rules. Every title is checked against the content guidelines of the retailers who carry us, Amazon first among them, before it goes anywhere near a printer. A book that is not unambiguously within those guidelines does not ship.
How we work with our authors
Our authors publish under pen names, a tradition as old as publishing itself, and each name stands for a consistent promise to the reader: one voice, one register, one standard. Behind every name is long, close editorial work between author and house.
We keep our list small enough that no book is ever just a line in a spreadsheet. Series are planned across several volumes before the first one appears, so readers who fall in love with a world know that more of it is already on the way.
